Panhandle Unified Command reported 7 new deaths on Tuesday, including 3 Dawes County – a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 80s, and a man in his 70s.
Sheridan County recorded its first COVID-19 death, a woman in her 60s.
The other 3 deaths were a Cheyenne County woman in her 70s, a Kimball County man in his 90s, and a Morrill County woman in her 90s.
There were 216 new cases and 145 recoveries. With the deaths, that brings the number of active cases to 2,196 including 85 who are hospitalized. The Panhandle has had 4,860 total cases with 2,633 recoveries and 31 deaths.
Dawes County has 73 active cases, 3 fewer than Monday, with 425 total cases, 343 recoveries, and 9 deaths.
The number of cases at Chadron State College grew to 124 with 3 students and 1 employee testing positive. Only 23 of those cases are active, 19 students and 4 staff. Students also make up 103 of the total cases.
The Chadron Public Schools still has just 2 active cases, 1 each at the high school and middle school, while the number of quarantines dropped from 11 to 7.
