A Pair Of Fires Keep Chadron VFD Busy Friday

Loading

Chadron firefighters were kept busy for a time on Friday by two fires, one in town and one south of the city.

The Great Plains Fire Information Center says the Dam Fire fire was reported just before 11:00 AM on private land near the city dams.

A combination of crews from the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department and the U-S Forest Service had the fire contained in just over an hour and fully controlled within 90 minutes of being reported.

The Dam Fire was described as 4 separate burned areas inside a one-acre acre. The cause was listed as human and equipment.

The second fire came early in the afternoon near downtown Chadron along the Nebraska Northwest Railroad tracks near the roundhouse. Details have not been released, but it appeared the fire was limited to railroad ties.
