Accident Claims Motorcyclist Near Scottsbluff

SCOTTSBLUFF – Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman says a motorcyclist was killed about 10:15 Sunday morning when they failed to make a curve just east of the Scottsbluff City limits.

Information on the rider including name, gender, and hometown is being withheld pending notification of family.

Sheriff Overman says the rider was part of a group of motorcyclists eastbound on South Beltline when the accident occurred just south of Highway 26.

Another rider farther back in the group said as they began going into a left-hand curve, one of them was going too fast fast and left the pavement to the right.

A Minatare Police Officer was the first on the scene and found the downed rider unresponsive. The officer began providing CPR and the rider was taken to Regional West Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
