The 911 phone system is down in both Chadron and Alliance with all other phone lines to the dispatch center at the Chadron Police Station also out.
Officials say they don’t know how long the outage will last.
Emergency calls can still be texted by 911 to the Chadron Center and there is a phone number for those who can’t text, but the police department asks that those calls be limited to strictly emergencies.
