Four Nebraska airports, including Alliance and Sidney,, have been awarded $9.25-million dollars in federal grants by the FAA – Federal Aviation Administration.
Alliance had the second-largest grant at a little over $4-million to rehabilitate the apron or tarmac, the area of an airport where aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refueled, boarded, or maintained.
The largest grant was $4.97-million to the Aurora Municipal Airport/Al Potter Field to rebuild a taxiway. Both grants were through the Airport Improvement Program.
The Sidney Municipal Airport/Lloyd W Carr Field gets $159,000 to build a new hangar while the Burwell Airport/Cram Field receives $110,000 for unspecified programs. Both of those grants are from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure bill.
Nebraska airports received over $22 million dollars from the Airport Improvement Program, which handed $3-billion dollars in grants nationwide to promote airport safety, efficiency, environmental stewardship, infrastructure, and security.
