Another Coronavirus Case Sent To UNMC

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Another person who tested positive for coronavirus after being evacuated from a cruise ship in Japan has been transferred to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

The person, the spouse of one of 13 individuals already under quarantine for Covid-19 at UNMC, had been monitored at a Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio before being flown to Omaha Monday afternoon to join the 12 people in the UNMC National Quarantine Unit.

Two other individuals from the cruise ship with more severe symptom’s are being cared for in the nearby Nebraska Biocontainment Unit where Ebola victims were successfully treated 6 years ago.

Two of those at the Quarantine Unit have tested negative for coronavirus and Covid-19, and will be released next Monday if they continue to show no symptoms and test negative.
