Another Corrections Worker Arrested For Fraternizing

Nebraska state prisons officials say a caseworker has been arrested on suspicion of having unauthorized contact with an inmate at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook.

29-year-old Kerstan Slater, who’d worked for the Corrections Dept since 2018, was arrested Thursday by the Nebraska State Patrol and then resigned her position

Slater is the latest in a slew of prison staffers to be arrested in recent weeks on similar charges.

Corrections Director Scott Frakes expresses frustration with the situation, saying staff members are warned from the moment they’re hired about the need to maintain professional boundaries with inmates.
