Anti-Gun Violence March In Chadron Part Of Nationwide Effort

March For Our Lives, a group founded to eliminate gun violence following the 2018 mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, is holding hundreds of events across the nation today – including one in Chadron.

Local organizer Cassie Nesheim says the protest march will begin at 2:00 at Chadron Middle School and end with a rally at the Dawes County Courthouse lawn.

Nesheim says participants in all the March For Our Lives events, including Chadron, are asked to wear blue or orange and to bring signs calling for an end to gun violence.

The largest of the rallies is expected to be on the National Mall in Washington, DC, where the permit from the National Park Service said the group expected a crowd of 50,000.

  1. If a violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught is to fear is his victim. From Col Cooper. The lefts attempt to take away my 2nd amendment right only emboldens the criminal. This march and the mentality surrounding it makes our children less safe. If you really want to make a difference, support the 2nd amendment and pay a few well armed veterans to guard the schools.

  2. During the last school shooting, more kids were saved by a military vet, who took his OWN gun, entered the school & saved the lives of several children. A young armed mother was also able to breach the school, again saving the lives of several children. And where were the cops, still trying to figure out how to breach the school, the “right way” without getting any kids hurt! THE KIDS WERE BEING KILLED IN THERE BY AN ARMED ASSAILANT — isn’t that the same as getting hurt!
The young generation needs to wake up & go read the Constitution again, especially the 2nd Amendment!
You will not take away my constitutional rites, I intend to fight for my country!

  3. There were over 20 participants which was a pretty good turn out for this area. Had some upstanding citizens drive past the group multiple times flying a Trump flag that said “F Your Feeling” and yelling f this and f that out the windows – I’m sure their parents would have been proud. They also had no plates on the back of the car. The group was shadowed by a couple of police vehicles as well — they didn’t seem to mind the car w/o plates full of obscenity loving folks. It’s well past time for gun law reform — nice to see some folks out standing in solidarity with folks that believe that nationwide.
