Bayard School Superintendent Dr Travis Miller has been named as the new superintendent of the Hemingford Public Schools and will start his new position in July. Miller says he’s honored to be selected to lead the Hemingford district.

Miller, the Bayard superintendent for 11 years, is a Nebraska native and graduate of the University of Nebraska-Kearney who has been a teacher, principal, and school board member as well as a superintendent.

He’s received awards as a teacher and administrator, including being named the Outstanding New Principal by the Nebraska State Association of Secondary School Principals in 2009-10 .

Last year, he was presented with the Distinguished Service Award from the Nebraska Association of School Administrators.

Miller has been a field consultant for the AdvancED accreditation group and a member of the school administrators association board. He’s currently on the state accreditation committee and the University of Nebraska President’s Advisory Council.

In Hemingford, Miller will succeed Charles Isom, who unexpectedly tendered his resignation last month, effective at the end of the current school year in June.

Isom became Hemingford superintendent in 2018 and said in his resignation letter that “a series of events” had put him in a position where he felt he wasn’t an effective leader for the district any more.
