Big Crowd Expected For Council Meeting

CHADRON – A big crowd is expected for tonight’s Chadron City Council meeting following a call from the Public Library Board, Library Foundation, and Friends of the Library for supporters to come out and urge the council to endorse a multi-million dollar renovation-and-expansion project.

Library Director Rossella Tesch says they’re not asking the city to make any kind of financial commitment at this time, just a formal resolution show of support that can be used in fundraising efforts.

Tesch says that although no direct progress has been made on moving the expansion and renovation plan toward construction, several related steps have occurred.

A study commissioned in 2009 by the non-profit Chadron Library Foundation recommended a library of about 16,000-square feet – more than twice the space of the existing library.

The Library Board followed that up by hiring Humphries|Poli Architects of Denver in 2013 to design the project and accepted its plan a year later.

Tonight’s city council agenda also includes the 2018-19 audit by the CPA firm of Almquist, Maltzahn, Galloway & Luth, and action on requests for ACE/KENO Community Betterment Grant Funds from Northwest Community Action Partnership and Western Community Health Resources.
