Big Visitor Numbers At Yellowstone National Park

Loading

Yellowstone National Park is having its busiest year in recent memory as visitors flock to the outdoors after a year of pandemic.

The park had its busiest May on record with over 483,000 recreation visits, up 11% from May 2019.

That pushed the total for the first 5 months of the year to more than 658,000 – the most since 594,000 in 2016. Yellowstone was closed last year from late March through most of May due to COVID-19.

The park is now in full summer mode. Its two Wyoming entrances opened for the summer season May 18 and its 3 Montana entrances opened June 1.
