Black Hills MVA Kills One

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday night on Highway 44 in the Black Hills near Scenic left 1 person dead and 3 others injured. Names have not yet been released.

The Highway Patrol says an older model seda was west about about 4 miles east of Scenic around 9:40 when the driver failed to negotiate a left curve. The car went off the roadway to the right and rolled.

A 29-year old female passenger who was not wearing a seat belt was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year old male driver suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries despite wearing a seat belt and was airlifted to Monument Health in Rapid City while a 2-year old boy and 1-year old girl in separate car seats had only minor injuries.
