South Dakota authorities are investigating a body discovered in a burned vehicle in the Black Hills near Rockerville with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office calling the death suspicious.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud popping sound and seeing a fire in the area shortly after 9:30 Thursday night.
First-responders arrived to find a small wildfire, but after it was put out, firefighters found the destroyed vehicle with the body inside.
The person has not been identified and anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
