CHADRON – The city of Chadron is closing the Chadron Area Aquatics and Wellness Center to the general public for at least the next 2 weeks because of the coronavirus, joining the city’s public library in shutting down for that time.
City Manager Greg Yanker says Governor Pete Ricketts’ call for a 10-person limit at public gathering, as recommended by the CDC – federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as recommendations from the Panhandle Public Health District led to the decision.
Yanker says the city will continue to monitor the situation and evaluate the closure at the end of the two weeks to determine if an extension is warranted.
He also says those with annual, quarterly, or month passes to the Aquatics Center will have the closure period prorated back to those passes.
Yanker says anyone with questions about the Aquatics Center closure or any other issue should not hesitate to call City Hall.
There is a growing number of cancellations, many of which were announced before the size of public gatherings was dropped from 50 to 10.
