The Chadron City Council has decided to stick with Olsson Associates as its engineering consultant for the municipal airport for the next 5 years.
Olsson has filled that role for the last 15 years, working with the city on a wide range of improvement projects as well as the airport’s strategic plan.
The company’s selection for a new 5-year contract must be approved by the FAA and the Airport Division of the Nebraska Dept of Transportation.
After meeting in regular session last night, the Chadron Council holds a special session this afternoon to trim down the list of 29 applicants to be the next city manager, a group that includes council member and former mayor Miles Bannan.
Current Mayor Mark Werner says today’s goal is to come up with a workable number of semifinal candidates to interview.
A key part of the process is a matrix of 30 skills, experiences, and traits scored from 0-5 by the council members, other than Bannan, and by City Clerk Donna Rust and Human Resources Director Bev Bartlett.
Werner says a similar matrix worked well 4 years ago when that council selected Greg Yanker, who resigned at the end of last year to return to the private sector and his career as an engineer by joining Fuller Construction of Chadron.
