Chadron Hosting Firefighters Convention

Loading

Up to 200 firefighters and emergency personnel from across Nebraska are in Chadron for the annual convention of the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighters Association.

The convention officially began last night with a welcome dinner and hospitality event, but a number of early arrivals took full advantage of the first of the programs being offered this year – an EMA class at the Chadron VFD training building.

Today’s schedule has separate meetings for fire chiefs, convention delegates, and EMS delegates, opening ceremonies, an association general session, the President’s Dinner, and a memorial service. There will also be more interactive training.

One of the highlights of the convention will be tomorrow at 2:00, a parade of fire trucks from many of the agencies taking part in the convention. The Chadron VFD will lead the way.

Chadron has hosted the convention every 10 years since 1980 and was scheduled to host last year before the pandemic led to the event being turned into a virtual gathering.
