Chadron Issues RFP For Police Records System; CARES Funds Expected To Cover Cost

Loading

The city of Chadron is putting out a Request for Proposal for a new records system for the police department.

Police Chief Rick Hickstein told the City Council last week the current system is 2 decades old and no longer has tech support.

Hickstein said the records system is involved in virtually every aspect of modern police operations.

The new system is expected to cost about $170,000 but the exact amount will depend on which company’s proposal is selected. Hickstein asked for and was given permission to use some of the federal COVID relief funds received for the police department last year.

This year’s city budget includes $30,000 for the new system and the COVID CARES funds will cover it.
