Chadron Man Faces Multiple Charges In Sunday Night Incidents Posted by John Axtell Date: March 31, 2020 10:30 am Leave a comment 9 Views CHADRON – A Chadron man is facing 3 felonies, 2 misdemeanors, and the likelihood of a fourth felony for a trio of related incidents late Sunday and early Monday morning. 28-year old Daniel Warby remains in the Dawes County Jail. Chadron Police Officer Brewer Newton says officers were called to a residence about 11:30 PM on a report of a verbal and possibly physical altercation, with Nebraska State Patrol troopers also responding. Newton says as officers attempted to contact the parties in the altercation, Warby became confrontational and tried to leave. As officers continued to try to speak with him, Warby ignored their commands to stop. Instead, he pulled away from them and took up a fighting stance – which point he was arrested for obstruction and resisting attest Warby was taken to Chadron Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered during his arrest, but at the hospital he kicked one officer in the knee and spit in the face of 2 others. Later, while being treated, Warby also spit in the face of the attending nurse. The result was 3 felony charges – 2 counts of assault on an officer with bodily fluid and 1 count of 3rd-degree assault on an officer – and misdemeanor counts of obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. A felony count of assault in a health care professional by bodily fluid is forthcoming. Officer Newton says the Chadron Police Department would like to thank the State Patrol and Chadron Community Hospital medical staff for their assistance. As for the call that brought the police and troopers to the scene in the first place, officers determined it was strictly verbal in nature with no charges needed.
