Chadron Man In Good Condition After SUV Hit By Semi

A Chadron man is in Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff with injuries suffered yesterday when his car collided with a semi at the junction of Hwy 385 and Link 7-E about 5 miles east of Hemingford. 68-year old Michael Harris is reported in good condition.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Harris was northbound on Hwy 385 in an SUV when an eastbound Farmers Co-op semi rolled through a stop sign and struck his SUV about 3:15.

Box Butte County Sheriff’s deputies responded along with the Hemingford VFD, which used extrication equipment to free Harris. He was then flown by AirLink helicopter to Regional West.

The driver of the semi, 53-year-old Howard Link, was cited for a stop sign violation. Traffic was limited to one lane at the intersection for about 90-minutes.

The State Patrol, Nebraska Department of Transportation, and Nebraska Game and Parks also responded to the accident.
