Chadron School Board Meeting To Ink New Supt’s Contract

CHADRON – The Chadron School Board isn’t wasting any time in making sure its choice of successor to retiring Superintendent Dr Caroline Winchester doesn’t get away.

Instead of waiting until its next regular meeting next month, the board is meeting in special session tonight at 5:30 to approve the contract worked out with Dr Ginger Meyer, picked by the board last week from among 4 finalists.

Meyer, currently Superintendent of the Scribner-Snyder district, will officially succeed Winchester on July 1st but with both sides expecting a lot of transitional consultations between the two over the final half of the school year.

Meyer is president-elect of the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association and has spent her entire 25-year career as an educator in Nebraska, including the last 8 running the Scribner-Snyder schools.

She holds degrees from all 3 levels of public post-secondary schools in Nebraska with a 2-year AA degree from McCook Community College, a masters from Wayne State College, and both a BA and doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
