Chadron State Park Celebration 101st Birthday On Saturday

    Chadron State Park holds its annual Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, June 11.

Assistant Supt Josh May says it’s going to be a big affair, although not as big as last year’s – which marked the centennial of both the park and the Nebraska State Park system.

The first event at 8:00 is Run for the Hills with Mountain Bike races in addition to the traditional mile, 5K, 10K, and half-marathon foot races. May says that’s followed by one of the most popular anniversary events – free paddle boat rides 

May says a variety of craft vendors and exhibits such as wildlife displays, blacksmith demonstrations, and naturalists activities will run from 10-2:00. 

    The Bar Flies are playing from 7-10:00 tonight at the Sports Field, which will have a beer garden from 11:00 this morning until 10:00 with food vendors there at the same hours. May says there’s also food in the middle part of the day at the

The afternoon schedule includes the Chadron Kiwanis Canoe Regatta at the pond with registration at 2:00 and races at 2:30 while the park pool is hosting a Children’s Treasure Dive at 5:00.

     May says the Chadron State Park tram will be running throughout the day and evening, similar to the way it did for last year’s Centennial Celebration.

Everything on the day is free except for items purchased from vendors, but a park entry permit is required.
