CHADRON – Chadron State College and Western Nebraska Community College have created a new partnership to better serve western Nebraska, support students and offer them a clear pathway to careers.
The Panhandle Advantage, with the motto “Two Colleges, One Panhandle,” provides seamless transfer opportunities in more programs, shared advising, and new scholarship opportunities.
Chadron State President Dr Randy Rhine and Dr Carmen Simone, who became president of WNCC earlier this year, unveiled Panhandle Advantage this week, but Rhine says it was in development long before then.
He says the two schools have worked together well for many years, making the Panhandle Advantage the logical next step in their relationship and their shared ultimate goal of keeping Panhandle high schools students in the Panhandle for college and their subsequent careers.
Panhandle Advantage will begin with expanding the existing relationship between the schools in Elementary Education and Business Administration, then use that model over the next year to includes other academic programs.
Dr Simone says there are great careers available in the Panhandle for Elementary Education and Business Administration graduates, which is why Panhandle Advantage is beginning with them.
Dr Rhine says CSC and WNCC will also look for other ways to partner through shared resources, as well as workforce and economic development initiatives.
