Cheyenne South HS Protest Elimination Of Study Hall

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – About 200 students at Cheyenne South High School recently protested a decision to eliminate a study hall period, calling it a class issue for economically-disadvantaged students.

The protesters said many student have work and family responsibilities outside school, living little time to do homework after they leave for the day.

Cheyenne South Principal Phil Thompson says ending study hall was done to make better use of the school day by adding 9 minutes to 4 other class periods.
