Collision With Semi Claims Lives Of 4 Members of Fremont Family

The Nebraska State Patrol says 4 members of a Fremont family were killed about 9:45 Thursday morning when their car hit a semi on Highway 275, just southeast of Scribner.

Pronounced dead at the scene were the driver 37-year old Heidi Lykens-Huisman and 2 of her 3 passengers, 29-year old Joshua Huisman and 10-year old Jaymasin Lykens. 9-month old Nova Hisman died later in a hospital.

The State Patrol says Lykens-Huisman was southbound when she tried to pass another vehicle on a 2-lane portion of Hwy 275. She lost control and hit a northbound semi. The truck driver, 37-year old Heath Harrison of Beemer, was not injured.

The highway was closed for several hours and the investigation into the crash and the deaths remains under investigation.
