Convicted Killer Ready To Be Executed If Sentenced To Death Posted by John Axtell Date: January 09, 2020 3 Views LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) – The Nebraska man convicted in the thrill-killing murder and dismemberment of a Lincoln woman in Nov 2017 says he’s ready to be executed should he be given the death penalty. 52-year old Aubrey Trail told the Omaha World-Herald in an email that if he’s sentenced to death he’ll file a lawsuit to try to force the state to carry out the execution in a timely fashion. Normally, a 3-judge panel either confirms or rejects a recommendation of death from the trial jury, but Trail waived his right for a jury recommendation. Trail was convicted in a month-long jury trial last July of 1st degree murder in the death of 24-year old Sydney Loofe. Prosecutors say Trail and his girlfriend, Bailey Boswell, used social media to search for a woman to murder and settled on Loofe, who disappeared within days of going on a date with Boswell. Her dismembered body was found in 14 locations in rural areas several weeks later. Boswell is scheduled for trial in March. She was originally facing the same charges as Trail, but the judge in her case recently dismissed a conspiracy charge, ruling prosecutors had failed to prove enough probable cause to take it to trial. Friday is the last day for the state to offer new information to try to change the judge’s mind on the conspiracy charge. If that doesn’t happen, the trial will go forward with 2 counts: 1st-degree murder and improper disposal of human skeletal remains.
