COVID Cases Continue To Rise In Panhandle And Statewide

Loading

Panhandle Unified Command says the region confirmed another 295 cases of COVID 19 between last Monday and yesterday morning.

121 of the new cases were in Scotts Bluff County, but there’s no way to know where in the Panhandle the others are because the state no longer gathers and releases county-by-county data.

There are now 432 active cases and 17 hospitalizations in the Panhandle. The region has had 10,229 confirmed cases and 200 deaths since the pandemic began with 5 other deaths awaiting confirmation as being COVID-related.

Meanwhile, data from the CDC shows the  number of new COVID cases in Nebraska continued its steady climb last week as the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus spreads. The new case count has gone up 13 straight weeks.

Nebraska reported 5,649 new confirmed cases last week, 733 more than the week before and 2,185 more than 2 weeks ago.

The state was reporting 253 cases per week in late June when Gov Pete Ricketts declared an end to the virus emergency.
