CSC Campus Closed To Public Indefinitely To Reduce COVID-19 Spread Posted by John Axtell Date: November 18, 2020 1:30 pm Leave a comment 1240 Views Chadron State College has closed its campus to the public until further notice to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The closure does not affect classes, campus visits by prospective students, and students scheduled to take the ACT. It does affect all CSC events and buildings as well as equipment and materials in the Nelson Physical Activity Center, Sandoz Center, Student Center, and King Library. President Randy Rhine explained in a campus letter that the closure decision was necessary and responsible in response to the increased numbers of COVID-19 cases in the region and its impact on the healthcare infrastructure. Rhine said “CSC has always been proud to collaborate with community and regional leaders and serve as a welcoming home for so many, (and) that role will return when it is safe to do so. Unfortunately, for the time being, the responsible decision is to close our doors to the public.” Chadron State has been relatively COVID-19 free with just 126 positive cases, 103 students and 23 employees. There are currently 21 active cases, 16 students and 5 employees.
