CSC Community Band, Choir Start Rehearsals This Week

(Tena L. Cook/Chadron State College)

The Chadron State College Community Symphonic Band and Community Chorus have their first rehearsals this week.

The band practices Tuesday at 7:00 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium and the choir Thursday at 7:00 in Memorial Hall 126.

Both will have joint concerts with their CSC student counterparts, the choir on Sunday, November 14, at 3:00 and the band on Friday, November 12, at 7:00 and again on December 9 as part of the CSC Holiday Concert.

Both the Community Band and Community had their spring 2020 seasons end in March before their concerts when the college shut down the campus because of the pandemic.

The band resumed last fall under COVID protocols, but the protocols for vocal music were more stringent and the community choir has been off until now.

Both Band Director Dr John Wojcik and Choir Director Dr Joel Schreuder are recommending masks for those who are unvaccinated.

Schreuder adds that choir members wishing to use masks should get a “singers mask,” which has a unique internal structure that keeps the mask away from the mouth.
