CSC Grad Finalist For County Judgeship In North Platte

A Chadron State College graduate is one of 3 attorneys recommended to Governor Pete Ricketts to fill a county judgeship based in North Platte.

Michael Nozicka graduated from CSC in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree and earned his Juris Doctorate from the Creighton law school in 1993.

Nozicka was a deputy Wayne County Attorney early in his career, but has been in private practice with an office in downtown North Platte since 2002.

The other 2 candidates are former Ralston City Attorney and one-time deputy Lancaster County Attorney Patrick Heng and current Chief Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Tanya Roberts-Connick.

The 3 names were sent to the governor by the 11th District Judicial Nominating Committee, which held a public hearing that gave each candidate a chance to state their case for selection.

Governor Ricketts plans to interview, either in person or remotely, each candidate before appointing one of them to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Kent Turnbull.
