Death Of Missing Man Found In Pasture Under Investigation Posted by John Axtell Date: February 24, 2020 1:34 pm Leave a comment 6 Views CHADRON – Dawes County Attorney and Coroner Vance Haug says the investigation is continuing into the Friday night-Saturday morning death of a man whose body was found in a pasture several miles north of Chadron. Haug says the Dawes County Sheriff’s Office was asked about 9:00 Saturday morning to conduct a welfare check on 21-year old Sage Cross, reported missing in a rural portion of the county. Deputies located Cross dead about 3 hours later. Haug was called to the scene at that point along with investigators from the Nebraska State Patrol and personnel from the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department. Haug has ordered an autopsy and toxicological screening in Scottsbluff, and is asking anyone with information about where Cross was or what he was doing in the hours leading up to his death to contact either the Sheriff’s Office at 308-432-3025 or the State Patrol at 308-632-1211.
