DHHS To Distribute AEDs To Chadron PD, Dawes Co. Sheriff’s Office Through Grant Posted by Jeremy Anderson Date: June 21, 2021 2:22 pm Leave a comment 211 Views The Chadron Police Department and Dawes County Sheriff’s Office have both recently benefited from a $6.4-million grant awarded to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services that allows for the distribution of automated external defibrillators to all local law enforcement agencies across the state. AEDs are portable devices used to diagnose and treat sudden cardiac arrest through defibrillation, which re-establishes an effective heart rhythm. Received from the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the grant previously helped supply CPR devices to Nebraska EMS services and hospitals. Both the Chadron PD and Dawes County Sheriff’s Office will receive eight AEDs that will be placed in their patrol vehicles. Twenty-five training sessions were strategically placed around the state, including one in Chadron on Tuesday morning.
