Dozens Of Cases Dismissed After Drug Evidence Stolen From NSP Evidence Room

Nearly 70 criminal cases have been dismissed in Lincoln in the month since authorities announced that more than $1.2 million dollars worth of drugs had been stolen from a Nebraska State Patrol evidence room,

. Deputy Lancaster County Attorney Bruce Prenda says in addition to the 66 cases his office has already closed, 43 more are still under review

The total number of affected cases may far exceed that count because similar reviews are happening in 13 other counties served by the State Patrol evidence locker where the thefts were discovered.

A former State Patrol evidence technician and her boyfriend have been indicted on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute the drugs.
