Fall River County Fair, More Events At The Dawes County Fair

      Another area county fair ends today while the Dawes County Fair continues to pick up speed on its opening weekend.

      The Fall River County Fair, which had the theme this year of Back to the Future, has its final events today.

The Ranch Rodeo and Ranch Bronc Riding are at the Grandstand at 6:00 PM and the Rodeo Dance from 9-1:30 tonight with music by Midnight Sun.

      The Dawes County Fair schedule starts at 2:00 with the Dawes County Agricultural Hall of Fame induction ceremonies at the Grandstand.

        Being honored this year are Bob Delsing of Hemingford, John and Kim Madsen of Chadron and Alan and Debbie Soester of Crawford. 

      The great-grandfathers of Delsing, Kim Madsen and Alan Soester all homesteaded in Dawes County in the 1880s.  

       Also being recognized during the ceremonies are Extra Miler Award winner Scott Roberts and three recipients of the Upper Niobrara White NRD Conservation Award: Wade Anderson, Rick Arnold, and Lucinda Mays.

       There’s entertainment as well this afternoon at the Dawes County Fair. Lawnmower racing from the local lawnmower racing association gets underway at 3:00 on the North 40 Track north of the Grandstand

      There’s also an antique tractor pull sponsored by the Highway 20 Antique Tractor Association at 4:00 in the arena at the Grandstand. Weigh-in for the tractors begins at 3:00/
