Fall Turkey Season Begins In Nebraska

Nebraska’s fall wild turkey season begins today and runs through January 31, with hunters able to get 2 permits and harvest 2 birds.

Nebraska Game and Parks spokesman Justin Haag says turkey hunting can be combined with big game, upland game, or waterfowl hunting – not to mention fishing – for a true Nebraska mixed bag adventure.

Haag says the fall turkey season is often overshadowed by other fall seasons – including deer, elk, pheasant, and waterfowl – but not for knowledgable hunters.

They know that while the spring turkey season is limited to toms and just 1 permit, both toms and hens can be taken during the fall season with a 2 bird limit. Fewer hunters also mean less competition for top spots and birds.

. Wild turkeys can be found all across Nebraska with more than 1.2 million acres of land publicly accessible across the state.

The Nebraska Public Access Atlas provides hunters with a guide to publicly accessible lands. It is available at outdoornebraska.gov/publicaccessatlas.
