The former Black Hills-area coordinator of the Salvation Army has pleaded Not Guilty to federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

40-year old Javier Clark Moreno was arrested on state charges May 13, two days after Pennington County prosecutors charged him with one count of possessing, creating or distributing child pornography.

A federal indictment followed last week.

Moreno was a captain in the Salvation Army when authorities say an  investigation revealed child pornography linked to an account tied to Moreno.

A search warrant raid at the organization’s camp in Rapid City where Moreno lived resulted in the seizure of 46 electronic devices

The Salvation Army says it has fired Moreno and is cooperating with the investigation.
