Fort Robinson And Chadron State Parks Starting To Wind Down Summer Activities

As summer winds down, Chadron State Park and Fort Robinson State Park have adjusted the schedules of many of their services.

Most scheduled activities at the parks are closed after Labor Day, but parks, their offices and their campgrounds are open to vehicles with a Nebraska Park Entry Permit throughout the year.

Following is a list of activities that will alter their hours for the remainder of the season.

Chadron State Park

Trading Post: Open daily through Aug. 8. Closed Aug. 9-20. Open Aug. 21-22, 28-29 and Sept. 4-6 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Swimming Pool: Open through Aug. 15, 1-7 p.m. Closed Aug. 16-27. Open Aug. 28-29 and Sept. 4-6, 1-5 p.m. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Horse rides: Open daily through Aug. 15, then closed weekdays. Open Aug. 21-22, 28-29, Sept. 4-6. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Shooting Range: Open daily through Aug. 15 then closed weekdays. Open Aug. 21-22, 28-29 and Sept. 4-6. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Fort Robinson State Park

Restaurant: Open 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Labor Day. Closed for season Sept. 7. 

Sutler’s Store: Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. after Aug. 11. Closed for season Sept. 6.

Swimming Pool: Closed Tuesdays and Thursdays after Aug. 15. Closed for season Sept. 6.

Information Booth: Open Thursdays through Saturdays beginning Aug. 9. Office will serve visitors on other days.

Horse Rides: All trail rides depart from Long Ride Barn beginning Aug. 1. Long rides are 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Short rides are 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Catering: No new requests for this season.

Stagecoach Rides: Closed Mondays and Tuesdays after Aug. 15. Closed for season Sept. 7.

Cookouts: Operating as normal. Closed for season Sept. 7.
