CHADRON – Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug says foul play is not suspected in the death of a Crawford man at his home, but he has ordered an autopsy and toxicological screening to determine the cause of death for 60-year old Martin Jansen.
Haug says a Dawes County Sheriff’s deputy was flagged down by a neighbor who asked for a welfare check on Jansen, saying he hadn’t been seen for several days. The deputy went to Jansen’s home and found him dead inside.
Haug was then called to assist in the investigation. He says a review of evidence from the scene and witness interviews found nothing to suggest foul play, but adds that the investigation is continuing.
