A Georgia man is in custody after leading Nebraska State Patrol troopers on a brief chase near Lincoln early Monday morning that topped 155 mph.
The State Patrol says the incident began when a trooper tried to pull over 33-year-old Jamell Martinez of Hinesville after clocking him going 128 mph on Interstate 80 near the downtown Lincoln exit.
Instead of stopping, Martinez sped up and continued on the freeway, where his top speed was caught at over 155.
Other troopers down the road were able to deploy stop sticks and the chase ended about 10 minutes later when the stop sticks flattened the tires and Martinez stopped near mile marker 381, where he was arrested without incident.
He faces charges of willful reckless driving and flight to avoid arrest as well as multiple traffic violations.
