Friess Decides Against U-S Senate Run

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) – Republican mega-donor Foster Friess has decided not to run for the U-S Senate seat of the retiring Mike Enzi of Wyoming.

Friess said Monday a Senate run would distract from his ongoing efforts to promote government spending transparency, school safety and other issues he feels are important.

Friess is a 79-year-old investor and philanthropist from Jackson Hole who has donated millions to GOP and conservative causes, and who finished 2nd to Mark Gordon in the 6-way gubernatorial primary two years ago. Gordon went on to win the general election.

Former Republican Congresswoman Cynthia Lummis so far is the only prominent or well-known candidate running for Enzi’s seat from any party.
