Loading

The search committee looking for the next director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has settled on the agency’s #2 administrator, deputy director Tim McCoy.

The nation-wide search that began when current director Jim Douglas announced he was retiring included several public meetings before the committee recommended McCoy.

The full commission will take up the committee’s choice tomorrow at a special meeting in Lincoln.

McCoy has been with Game and Parks for 19 years. He was named wildlife division administrator in 2011 and deputy director the following year under an administrative reorganization.

A Nebraska native from Arapahoe, McCoy holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and both a master’s degree and doctorate in fish and wildlife from the University of Missouri.

Douglas is retiring Nov 1st after 47 years with Game and Parks, the last 9 as director.
