Garden County Sheriff Gets Probation In Domestic Assault Case

Loading

Garden County Sheriff Michelle Quinn has been sentenced to 6 months probation for misdemeanor domestic assault. The 44-year old Quinn must also attend counseling and pay probation and drug testing costs.

Keith County Judge Edward Steenburg found Quinn guilty of 3rd-degree domestic assault causing intentional bodily injury to an intimate partner in an August bench trial

Quinn was stopped in April by Garden County deputies after the sheriff inadvertently called her office while arguing with her domestic partner driving in Keith County.

When the deputies discovered it was their boss, they turned the case over to a Nebraska State trooper who’d responded as backup.

The trooper said the victim had a cut lip and abrasions on the neck and cheek while Sheriff Quinn had a cut on the knuckle of her right index finger.

A portion of the initial call to the sheriff’s office was recorded because staff heard yelling. A dispatcher made a return call and heard more arguing with the victim yelling “I want out of the truck,” “you hit me,” and “you broke my teeth.”
