GERING – Gering School Superintendent Bob Hastings is leaving at the end of the school year to become director of human resources for the Kearney Public schools. Hastings was been superintendent since the start of the the 2013-2014 school year.

School board president BJ Peters says Hastings has been an outstanding instructional leader for the Gering school system, and the board understands the need for him to do what’s best for his family and for himself professionally.

Peters also says the district has already begun reaching out to search firms asking for proposals to assist them in the search process for the new superintendent..

Hastings says he’s “truly enjoyed” being superintendent of one of the state’s premier districts, calling Gering “a unique community and school district” with a board of education, administration, and staff second-to-none.
