CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has issued an executive order to protect wildlife migration corridors that preserve routes used by big game herds in the state.
The order specifically preserves protections for 3 existing mule deer corridors in Sublette, Baggs and Platte Valley while also providing guidelines for designating additional routes in the future
Gordon says the designation of migration corridors throughout Wyoming can help determine the environmental impact of projects that were previously delayed.
Experts say the loss of critical habitat such as migration corridors have contributed in part to population decline for some species.
