The face covering protocol will remain in place in K-12 schools as a safety measure to ensure that classroom learning and all student activities can continue to occur safely.Gordon says the goal is having graduations, proms, and a great end to the school year. Gordon says the lifting of the restrictions is based on the state’s continually improving health metrics for COVID-19 and is consistent with his approach of balancing public health with protecting livelihoods. The governor gives much of the credit to the people of Wyoming, saying their commitment to keeping one another safe allowed schools and businesses to keep operating and the economy to move forward, but also urges continued diligence and personal responsibility to keep COVID-19 at bay. Wyoming has had significant success in rolling out the vaccine while also seeing declines in the number of active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Monday’s report from the Wyoming Dept of Health listed 110 new confirmed cases, 182 recoveries, and no deaths over the weekend with the number of active cases down to 303. The total number of cases in the state is 46,507 with 671 deaths.
