CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – The Cheyenne grade school teacher charged with 1st-degree murder for killing her live-in fiancee early Saturday morning says she acted in self-defense.
33-year old Danelle Moyte remains jailed in the death of 39-year-old Christopher Garcia
Investigators say in an affidavit that Moyte told them she and Garcia had been out drinking and that she shot him because she was afraid he would beat her. The Title 1 teacher at an elementary school made her initial court appearance Monday.
