Gray’s Angus Honored By Nebraska Angus Association As Producer Of The Year

Gray’s Angus of Sioux County has been named the Producer of the Year for 2021 by the Nebraska Angus Association.

The award is based on a number of criteria including how long the producer has been in operation and service to the cattle industry and the angus breed. Rod Gray says being selected is a great honor.

He’s a past member of the Angus Association board and served as president in 1992-93. He also served on the Nebraska Beef Check-Off Board for 8 years and made beef promotion trips to Central and South America.

Gray says his great-great-grandfather started raising registered Angus on his ranch in Iowa in 1898 and that he and his wife Laura have been Nebraska producers since 1983 – although their arrival in Sioux County is recent in ranching terms.

Rod says the Gray family has always been committed to the Angus breed and while taking advantage of many technological and other advances in the cattle industry has remained true to its roots.

Rod Gray says he’s not ready to retire, but is ready to slow down a bit and let the next generation of the family take more responsibilities.

Gray’s grandkids are the 7th generation of the family to show Angus breeding stock.
