Harrison Bullrider Dies Of Injuries From Bull

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The specter of possible death in the sport of bullriding became reality Saturday night in Torrington when a Sioux County cowboy was killed during a ride.

Goshen County Coroner Darin Yates says 53-year-old Scott Mitzelfelt of Harrison, who went by Scott Mitz and worked at the Crawford Livestock Market, died at Community Hospital in Torrington of injuries suffered earlier that night in an event at the Goshen County Fairgrounds.

Yates says Mitz was knocked out when he was bucked off by a bull, which then stepped on him – apparently multiple times – as he lay unconscious on the ground.
