Morrill County authorities say one person died and two people were injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision about a half-mile west of the Hwy 385-Link 62A junction at Angora Hill.

Morrill County Attorney Travis Rodak says the Morrill County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol were called out around 11:30 a-m for a head-on crash between a pickup and SUV.

Rodak says 46-year-old Sheldon Gibbons of Bayard was pronounced dead at the scene

74-year-old Dale Fredrick of Alliance and 20-year old Sheldon Gibbons Jr of Bayard were taken to hospitals for treatment, Fredrick by air ambulance.

Rodak says investigation into the cause of the crash continues, but the initial reports said restraints were in use and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.

The Morrill County Sheriff’s Office has the lead role in the investigation with aid from the Nebraska State Patrol.

Assisting at the scene were Nebraska Game and Parks, Bayard Police, and the Bridgeport and Bayard fire departments.
