Home Detention And Probation Recommended For Omaha Man In Jan 6 Riot

Loading

Federal prosecutors have recommended that an Omaha man who pleaded guilty to taking part in the riot at the U-S Capitol last year be sentenced to 4 months of home detention and 3 years probation.

Brandon Straka would also perform at least 60 hours of community service and pay $500 restitution. His formal sentencing is set for next Thursday.

Straka pleaded guilty in October to engaging in disorderly and disruptive conduct, which has a maximum of 6 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Straka encouraged and celebrated the violence of the day but did not personally engage in violence or property destruction during the riot.

In the sentencing recommendation, prosecutors call him a social media influencer who live-streamed his participation in the attack.

They note that in his presentence interview with federal probation officers, Straka said he had remorse for his actions and “if he could back in time, he would never have gone to Washington, D.C.”

Straka also described his conduct on Jan. 6 as “one of the stupidest and tragic decisions of his life.”

His sentencing won’t be the end of Straka’s legal woes as a result of the Jan 6 riot. He’s one of 35 individuals and organizations being sued for damages by 7 U-S Capitol police officers injured during the riot.

The other defendants include former President Donald Trump, his reelection campaign, the Stop the Steal organization, advisor Roger Stone, and the Proud Boys group.

  1. The deep state, or the left, or the particular political party has used a peaceful protest for the furtherance of their twisted political ambitions by continually referring to Jan. 6 as a “riot” or an “insurrection”. The fact that the media is owned by six families who dictate to their liberal audience what to think should be obvious. We all saw the actual riots over the last two years by groups that were encouraged by the media who like the puppets they are called the murdering of innocent people, burning and looting of stores, government buildings, and even police precincts as “peaceful protests”. Under the guise of feigned anger over the few men who were all guilty of the crimes they committed and decided to resist the police who were sent to protect the innocent, groups such as Antifa and BLM had free reign to burn and destroy with the absolute blessing of the blue governors and mayors of their cities. How can this anarchist behavior in a sane and normal civilization be justified? One person was killed on Ja. 6, she was an unarmed veteran shot by an over-zealous unqualified guard, and the only damage done that day was by Antifa and other infiltrators posing as Trump supporters. Why is the FBI purposely keeping the thousands of pages and hours of video from the American people? This whole thing stinks of treason by the current administration.
