Hwy 87 Crash South Of Hay Springs Claims 2 Lives Posted by John Axtell Date: January 29, 2021 5055 Views The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol are investigating a two-vehicle crash early Friday morning on Highway 87 south of Hay Springs that killed a Minnesotans and hospitalized a local resident. The victims have been identified as 24-year old Josey Tensen of Glenwood and 22-year old Remington Harder of Hutchinson, Minn. Hospitalized in Chadron with non-life-threatening injuries is 45-year old Nathan Marcy of Hay Springs. State Patrol Public Relations Director Cody Thomas says the crash occurred around 3:20 AM about 6 miles south of Hay Springs. Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene first and requested assistance for a crash reconstruction from the Patrol. Thomas says the preliminary investigation shows that Marcy was driving a pickup and pulling a stock trailer when he failed to obey a stop sign on a county road and pulled on the highway, hitting an SUV and causing it to rollover. Both Harder, a female, and Tensen, a male, were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Since both were outside the SUV, authorities have not determined which of them was driving. The crash remains under investigation.
